The Zeltiq Treatment
The Zeltiq procedure involves placing an applicator on the skin which draws the targeted area of fat into the applicator cup and then cools the fat while protecting the overlying skin. This last for 60 minutes, and multiple sessions may be performed on different areas of the body on the same day. There is no downtime and you may return to your normal activities immediately.
Awaiting FDA Approval
Currently, Zeltiq is FDA approved for tissue cooling for anesthesia or pain reduction, though the device is used by many leading physicians for fat reduction based on published research. The Zeltiq device is also approved and commercially available in Europe and Canada for non-invasive fat reduction. Zeltiq is awaiting FDA approval for fat reduction in the US. Until such final approval, physicians may choose to use the device as they see fit for "off-label" use. |
